El Patrón

// DESCRIPTION

“El Patrón” uses an unconventional approach to portraiture, depicting Pablo Escobar through an arrangement of bullet casings against a background of U.S. $100 bills. This provocative mixed media piece creates his likeness using the very symbols of his power and destruction.

The ornate, weathered frame contrasts sharply with the modern materials – currency and ammunition – creating a powerful commentary on wealth, power, and violence. The juxtaposition of money and bullets speaks directly to the dual nature of Escobar’s empire, built on both immense wealth and devastating conflict.

This work challenges viewers to confront the complex legacy of one of history’s most notorious figures, using the materials that defined his world to create his image. The piece explores themes of corruption, influence, and the price of absolute power.
