Invader (Multi)

// DESCRIPTION

“Invader (Multi)” brings childhood arcade nostalgia into contemporary art through a compact Space Invader sculpture constructed entirely from spray paint cans. This smaller version captures the familiar 8-bit icon through cans covered in layers of multicoloured paint, creating a distressed urban aesthetic that speaks to street art history.
There’s something brilliant about using actual graffiti cans to build pixelated game characters. It’s like street art eating itself – the tools becoming the art, the medium becoming the message. The weathered, paint-splattered surfaces aren’t decoration, they’re history. Every mark represents moments when creativity happened, when someone grabbed a can and made their mark. This sculpture connects two cultures that shaped how a generation saw rebellion – arcade gaming and street art – showing how both gave kids a way to fight back against the ordinary.
