Kinetic Drop

“Kinetic Drop” captures that split-second moment when a water droplet collides with a surface and energy explodes in all directions. This large-scale stainless steel sculpture freezes pure kinetic energy in metal, creating a piece that’s constantly changing as light plays across its polished surface throughout the day.

Commissioned for the Four Seasons Hotel Doha’s 20th anniversary, the work connects Dan’s earliest memories of playing in the Australian ocean with Qatar’s relationship to water as a precious resource. Mounted on a map of Qatar, the sculpture represents both the physical collision of forces and the metaphorical impact the hotel has created over two decades. The reflective surface means you’re always seeing something different – the piece literally includes you and your surroundings as part of the artwork, making every viewing unique.
